Museum of Fine Arts Brera

The Brera Art Gallery (Pinacoteca di Brera) contains one of Italy’s most important collections of Renaissance paintings, over 500 works dating from the 14th – 20th centuries. Opened to the general public in 1809, the museum is housed in an excellent 17th-century building near the Academy of Fine Arts, located in the Brera Palace.

Among the works presented are the masterpieces of the brush della Francesca, Rafael Santi, Mantegna, Bellini, Caravaggio, Tintoretto, Veronese. A small collection of works of modern art has been compiled, containing paintings by Modigliani, Giorgio de Chirico, Carlo Carra.

The museum is located in the heart of the Brera quarter - a charming and slightly bohemian place, also known as the "Montmartre of Milan".

Museum of Science and Technology "Leonardo da Vinci"

The Museum of Science and Technology "Leonardo da Vinci" (Museo della Scienza e della Tecnologia) was first opened in 1953 by an exhibition of works by Leonardo da Vinci, in whose honor it was named. The National Museum of Science and Technology da Vinci is the largest in Italy and the most important in the world.

The purpose of the institution: to attract a new audience by demonstrating how the phenomenon of science and technology develops in a practical sense, successfully managing it (as shown by various master classes).

The Museum of Science and Technology houses the largest collection of car models in the world, painted by Leonardo da Vinci, the reconstruction of his famous aircraft and other equally remarkable drawings.

Museum exhibits are divided into the following categories: Materials, Vehicles, Energy, Means of Communication, Leonardo's Arts and Science (visitors can interact with projects by Leonardo da Vinci, reconstructed on a large scale), New scientific areas for children.

Museum of Archeology, Applied and Artistic Arts Poldi Pezzoli

The historic house of Poldi Pezzoli in Milan is one of the most significant houses - museums, which Italy has. It presents collections of the most beautiful collectors of the 19th century. The museum was organized in 1881 by collector of beautiful things, Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli, who devoted his entire conscious life to decorating his apartments and collecting art masterpieces.

The result of his work was an impressive collection of works by Italian artists of the Renaissance - from the Pollayolo brothers to the Venetian landscape painter Francesco Guardi. Also in the house - museum of Poldi Pezzoli the visitors' views are presented with a unique collection of exquisite watches, porcelain, jewelry, glassware, tapestries and armor.

  • Opening hours: Monday, Wednesday - Sunday from 10.00 to 18.00. The historic house of Poldi Pezzoli does not accept visitors on January 1, during Easter, April 25, May 1, August 15, November 1, December 8, December 25/26;

Gallery of Modern Art

The Gallery of Modern Art (Galleria d'Arte Moderna) is the most favorite tourist spot in Milan. Located in Villa Real, a luxurious park ensemble where Napoleon stayed, the gallery of modern art keeps a world collection of paintings from the 19th century. Within its walls are the works of masters from Lombardy and other Italian artists - Modigliani, Boccioni, da Volpedo, Segantini, Previati, as well as modernists from different countries - Gauguin, Van Gogh, Picasso, Paul Cezanne, Manet. On the upper floors of the museum house are the chivalrous works of XX century sculptor Marino Marini.

Toy museum

The building of the Toy Museum (Museo del giocattolo e del bambino) is located in the historic institute of Milan. Visiting it, children and adults can see more than 2000 old and modern toys dating from the period from the 18th century to the sixties of the last century. Among its exhibits, the Toy Museum in Milan restores the history of the art of the game.

Alfa Romeo History Museum

The opening of the Mecca for Italian car fans took place in 1976 and, according to the founders, the Alfa Romeo Museum (Il Museo Storico dell'Alfa Romeo) is a story "not only about the development of Alfa Romeo, but also about the history of the Italian industry, which reflects a century of life nation, its people, economy and social sphere. " The Alfa Romeo exhibition contains one (at least) instance of each model produced in production. The Alpha collections contain more than 250 exhibits of cars and 150 - motors. They include a spectacular collection of 110 cars - one of a kind, racing, mass-produced, prototypes and conceptual - from the first Alpha car called "24 HP" to the legendary winners of the "Mille Miglia" race.

The exhibits of the Alfa Romeo Museum play important roles both locally and internationally, exhibiting at various exhibitions.

Unfortunately for many, the Alfa Romeo Museum is under reconstruction - it was closed back in 2011; information on how long the recovery will last is not provided.

There is an opportunity to visit the museums of Milan at a discount: buy a MilanoCard card, valid from one (6.5 €) to three (13 €) days and distributed to the Poldi Pezzoli Museum, Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science, Technology and Technology, Brera Gallery.
