The most interesting places in Rome where you can buy tickets online

BlogoItaliano continues a series of articles on Italy's most interesting places to buy tickets online. Having talked about Venice and Florence in previous posts, today the topic of our review is Sights of Rome. Since there are a lot of those in the Eternal City, we selected only the most interesting ones. However, we will not begin at all from any particular place, but from Rome as a whole.

Rome audio guide

Probably no one will argue with the fact that the main attraction of Rome is the city itself. Its energy, architecture, atmosphere. There are so many stories connected with the streets and squares of the Eternal City that you can even get impressions without visiting museums.

There are a great many routes around Rome, but there is also a special one among them - the main tourist axis, about which BlogoItaliano briefly described in the article What to see in Rome on your own in 1 day. But is it possible to contain everything that you want to tell in the format of one article.

Audioguide in Rome lets you learn more about the city

That is why at the beginning of 2019, we released a separate audio guide for the iPhone link along this same route. In total, it included about 60 attractions, which are summarized in a single audio tour of the main places.

Most of them are free, for some you will need entrance tickets, but the audio guide will allow you to spend your time much more saturated, and also significantly saving on live excursions. After all, the full version of the most popular route costs only 5 Euros, and in the trial version of the application the first 5 points out of 60 can be “tried” for free.

After installation, the application can work without the Internet and does not consume mobile traffic in roaming, and all places are marked on a convenient built-in map and numbered in the order in which they are recommended to be studied. However, you can try everything yourself: you can download the application on your iPhone on this page.

Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel

The Vatican is one of the most popular attractions not only in Italy, but also in the whole world, therefore it is not surprising that about five million people visit the tiny state every year.

Having booked a ticket online, you can independently visit the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums. But you can go further and find out more by ordering a group or individual tour, the program of which will also include a visit to St. Peter's Basilica.

Of course, 3 or 3,5 hours of excursion is negligible for all those treasures that are stored in the Vatican. But this will cover at least the most important thing. Going to the Vatican, think over your wardrobe in advance, since it is forbidden to appear in its shorts and short pants in capri style, miniskirts, with bare shoulders and open stomachs on its territory.

The Vatican Museums have a total of 1,400 halls and 50,000 objects

  • The cost of a ticket to the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums online is from 20 with copecks to 40 Euro depending on the site. The simplest and most convenient way to skip the line tickets is to book here.
  • The cost of a ticket for a group tour of the Vatican with a visit to the Sistine Chapel, Museums and St. Peter's Basilica is from 38 Euros (plus additional tickets must be purchased). Details can be found here.
  • The cost of an individual excursion with a visit to the Cathedral, Chapel and Museums is 180 Euro. Moreover, it makes no difference whether you will be one or the whole company. You can clarify all the nuances on this page.

Colosseum, Palatine and Roman Forum

Any visit to Rome, whether it is a business trip or a vacation, is not complete without excursions to ancient monuments located in the very center of the city: the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine. BlogoItaliano already wrote about them in detail in articles by the Coliseum in Rome - the largest amphitheater of the Ancient World and the Roman Forum: the ancient heart of the Eternal City, so now we’ll tell you not about the places themselves, but about the features of the visit.

It should be remembered that the purchased online ticket is valid for 2 days and can be used only for 1 entrance to each of the ancient objects. If you are traveling with a child, then it will be useful to find out that for children under 5 years of age a ticket is not required. For older children and senior citizens tickets can be purchased at a reduced price.

The Roman Forum arose around the 7th century BC.

Please note that on December 25, January 1 and May 1, the Colosseum, Palatine and the Roman Forum are closed for visitors due to holidays.

As in the case of the Vatican, you can buy tickets and go sightseeing on your own, or you can sign up for a group excursion and do the whole walk with a guide. Tickets are already included in the tour price, but it covers only the Forum and the Colosseum.

  • The cost of a single ticket to the Colosseum, the Palatine and the Roman Forum online - from 16 Euro per person. Find out more and place an order here.
  • The cost of participation in a group tour is 52 Euro per person (tickets included). All details and details are painted here.

Borghese Gallery

After many years of restoration work, the Borghese Gallery is again open to those wishing to familiarize themselves with its priceless collection of masterpieces of painting and sculpture, collected in the 17th century by the famous philanthropist and art collector Cardinal Shipione Borghese.

The collection consists of works by Flemish, Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish and other masters. The collection of paintings is represented by paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, Veronese, Rafael, Rubens, Titian, Correggio, Caravaggio and many others.

To get to the Borghese Gallery is very difficult. As a rule, tickets are sold a month in advance and it’s almost impossible to visit a unique museum without prior reservation, which BlogoItaliano dwelt upon in detail in the Borghese Gallery article: Rome's most coveted and inaccessible museum.

The Borghese Gallery contains paintings by Raphael, Rubens, Titian ...

This is one of those moments when the benefits of buying an online ticket are especially tangible. Indeed, this option will allow you to choose a convenient date and time, as well as be in the museum for at least 2 hours. You can change the voucher confirming the reservation for the ticket itself at Borghese Gallery 30 minutes before the scheduled start of the visit.

The Borghese Gallery is closed on Mondays, as well as December 25 and January 1.

Address: Piazza Scipione Borghese, 5. Opening hours from 9.00 to 19.00.

  • The cost of a ticket to the Borghese Gallery online is from 20 Euro per person. Learn more and place an order here.
  • The cost of the excursion in Russian to the Borghese Gallery is from 125 Euro per person. Find out details and current dates here.
